Update....

Most of the floor is now up!

Not sure if you can see, but this picture is meant to show how much of the floor has come up, it is about 25 cm from the line to where the floor is now.

We started taking the plaster off the walls, a slow but necessary job. Thank you to the neighbours for lending us their electricity for this bit!!!

Water and electricity

Yesterday was spent running around Peniche with one of the helpful estate agents in tow. Him not speaking English, us speaking very little Portuguese. But our mission to get water and electricity was (sort of) completed! Or at least initiated.... We will have to wait at least 2 weeks for both to be connected, which probabaly means more like 4, which means it will be August and every single person in all of Portugal will be on holiday.... So yes, we should have water and electricity by September!  Not bad, considering...

Our meter boxes for electricity and water!

Just a donkey down the road

We have not done much work, as we have had a few visitors since we bought the place, and also managed an escape to France to see some dear friends. It was supposed to be a 3 day trip, but quickly turned into a 6 day one, which included a trip to Brittany to get our last boxes and a car breakdown, but won't go in to details. The break was lovely though and it was great to see everyone!

Glenn spent a few days up the land trying to tame the wilderness.  Susie went up a couple of days raking, but it must be said that Glenn did all the hard work!

It went from this to.....

this, to.....

this!
At least it looks a bit tidier! For a while. :-)

On our way home from the land on Sunday, we almost ran this "little" fellow over, anyone know what he is?

GOOD news!!!!!!

Makes a change, doesn't it?

We haven't updated our blog for ages, mostly due to not being able to make any decisions that felt right, or were actually achievable.... However, as we were hoping, fate took care of it for us and by being patient and giving ourselves time (and not wasting too much money) we came over another little property by accident....

We saw this tiny little house for sale on the internet in an area we both really like, and which is also very popular with holiday makers and surfers.  As the price was in our range, we did not have high hopes for the place, it was too good to be true.  BUT when we got there it was exactly what we had been looking for. It is tiny (i.e. doable), it has 4 walls and a roof (i.e. no major construction work needed), it has an outdoor space, which again is tiny (i.e. increases rental/onward sales potential, and is manageable!), it is only 1 km from the beach (i.e. in the village close to shops and cafes, but close enough to cycle to the beach!). Well, the main factors for us was of course the price, but also the fact that we could start work straight away.

The purchase went through while we were visited by Glenn's lovely sister and husband, which was great, as it gave us a bit of a holiday too before the work was to commence!
